Dryland training @ the Olympiazentrum Campus Sport Tirol Innsbruck
Less weight + sloooow movement = insane intensity, but it´s fun to train again and my body starts to feel good.
Another two days at the Stubaier, hopefully the last two days, honestly I´m done with skiing for this season.

Time for a change
I want to thank Mike and Berni from Blizzard for the great support for the last years.
It´s time for a change and after some testing and talking i will ski on FISCHER next year.
My expectations are high and I´m pretty excited to cooperate with this company.
Skiing tomorrow at Stubaier!

Training starts now...
My body feels a little bit like hit by a truck ..... 4 times.
Special instructions from the commander for core strength and some cool exercises for my still sore shoulders felt really good.
Keep on working on my fitness level, for sure the commander is the best choice.
HOT news next week!

Season recap
The 2011/12 skicross worldcup season started strong, a 6th place in Innichen and a 4th place in St. Johann confirmed my feeling from the training the month before.
But after the crash in St. Johann my body and my mind were not ready to get back into full speed mode and after another senseless crash in Blue Mountain, the way back was too hard and too long.
It seemed that I´m a bit addicted to ski with pain and that was NOT fast.
All in all it was not a bad season, but definitely not a good one.
Hopefully we will have the Austrian Championships next week, another chance to get a positive season end.
Special thanks to my family, friends and all my supporters and sponsors!

The season has come to and end, and as you all know it´s bitter and tragic.
But we will keep on fighting and doing what we love.
Nik you will be missed, and never forgotten.
Proud to race against you, and proud to be part of the skicross family.
Rest in Peace.

Training @ the olympic centre Innsbruck
My shoulder is feeling better every day, special thanks to physio Robby Kühnel, "the german hard rock body mechanic" and of course Chris "the Commander".
Let me introduce you a guy who also is part of the olympic training centre in Innsbruck:
Roman Rabl a monoskier from my hometown Söll and also sponsored by Theresienöl.
Roman competes his first season at the Worldcup and got his first podium last week.
He is damn talented and his goal is to compete at the paralympic winter games in Sochi 2014.
Watch out for him, he will kick some asses in the future.

Faceplant take II
After the X games disaster, I met the rest of the team at Toronto to compete at the next worldcup in Blue Mountain.
The track was nice to ski, a little to much for the snowboarders who are racing this week, but i felt good and ready to attack.
A little bit unlucky I missed to swallow a roller section in the first training and crashed really bad on my back, shoulder and face.
So there was no chance to compete at the qualifier day.
I lost little bit of my back tooth and my shoulder is sore as hell. Fucked up my thumb too and my back feels like I am 80.
Of course I feel disappointed but somehow I feel still motivated for the next races in Germany.
I really have enough of crashing, moaning of pain, hospital body/brain checks and physiotherapy.
3 new rules:
1. No more crashes for this f"§$%&/ season!
2. Meet the Commander more often.
3. Take advantage of the last 5 chances!

USA & X GAMES
Having an amazing time here in the US, although the X games Skicross event was a horrible nightmare for me.
Got pretty excited about everything, skied in Vail and Beaver Creek, went to Aspen to stay at a beautiful place, inspected the SX course and felt every day a bit smoother and stronger.
But on the Qualiday I was really unlucky, picked the wrong ski, got some headwind....
So i was not qualified and had to watch the race at the fence.
Not the best excuses but anyway I will give it a try next year.
Congrats to the podium, well deserved, and all in all it was a great experience and a great trip.
We will heading to Blue Mountain on Tuesday for the next Worldcuprace!
I will not give up yet! !)

Freeskiing in Les Contamines
Traveled with Witti the Roadrunner to Les Contamines to give it a chance, my head turned better every hour and my shoulder was just a bit sore.
Made a little mistake at the Quali and missed the top 32.
Anyway the expectations where not too high and I was just satisfied that the aftereffects from the crash in St. Johann did not last too long.
So I enjoyed free skiing in the beautiful french alps.
Felt really sorry for my buddy Zäng that he was not lucky this day.
I´m staying at home for a week now until I fly to Denver on Sunday.
The legendary X games are on the way!

4th place including faceplant
Skicross Worldcup St.Johann/Oberndorf, some love it, some hate it.
It´s definetly the most controversial worldcup on the tour.
The course is not one of my favorite and every year the pressure and the expectations are extremly high.
But I love the atmosphere, and to race in front of my family and friends is always a special moment.
I finished 4th, skied pretty good til the terrible crash with Chris DelBosco, had to quit the final and instead of a big party I had to stay one night in the hospital.
Mild concussion, neck and shoulder sore, so still pretty lucky!
Skip Alpe d´Huez to give my body a rest, maybe I will make it to Les Contamines on Sunday,
who knows!
Be prepared boys I´m on fire!

The big show
3 days left for the big show in St. Johann/ Oberndorf.
The weather is not the best but the course will be in a great shape.
After some good days of training and testing (AGAIN!) I think I´m ready for it.
The pressure is on and the expectation is huge.
So time to stay calm and focused.

finally....
After some days off and nice christmas days with my family, snow was dumping and Tirol was covered all over it.
Had some other stuff to do and my friends got little bit crazy telling me about their deep experience with the fresh pow, but i was still positive that i could get my chance to ski some.
And i finally got it!
Skied at the skiers dream resort Arlberg just for one day, but i´m still satisfied what i got.
Just skied as much as I could and enjoyed it so much.
Back to business these days for start and GS Training!
I´m 100% ready for St. Johann/Oberndorf!!!

SX Worldcup Innichen
Season kicked off with the two Worldcup races in Innichen/ San Candido.
I finished 6th the first day, one run was a bit lucky, but the other runs included nice skiing, good passing and one satisfied start movement.
The other day sucked, qualified 35th and had to watch the race at the finish.
I really hate this feeling to get beaten by myself.
Anyway I still got a positive feeling from this weekend and I will continue to work on my skiing performance.
Some days off, some days training before Christmas and maybe some pow this week.

One week left and good news!
After two days of "snow" and some cold one´s the first two races are confirmed!
And everyone is sooo happy about it. Can´t wait to race!
This week we did some start training (again) and some ski testing (again)....
It´s time for some real ski cross racing.
The heat is on and it´s time to get fired up!
The brand new SX tourshirt is also finished!!

The SEARCH!
Past two weeks we where searching for snow in lower altitude but there was no luck.
Austria crushed a new record for sunny days and I think we had about over 40 days with no rain and definitely NO snow!
Skied in Mölltal for a nice testrace, skied in Hintertux for airtime, skied in Scheffau for start training and skied in Reiteralm for ski testing.
All in all the feeling is good, but the snow is missing.
Two weeks left for the first race in Innichen, time to stay focused.
Snow will come next week....

Bye bye lovely Sölden
After another three perfect sunny days at my favourite place in autumn we finally left Sölden.
The skiing was unbelievable nice and the whole team is looking forward for the first races.
We are getting airtime in Hintertux tomorrow and there will be a "test" race in Mölltal next week.
Special thanks to Mike Demino our service tech for doing an awesome job so far.
His attitude gives us every day a positive vibe, but everybody should respect his slogan:
Don´t fuck´em (the skis) up! ;)

Winter can wait, at least for a week
Enjoyed my days at home, soak up the sun and the beautiful scenery in my home area.
Dryland training is still tough but the Commander and myself are pretty satisfied about the athletic progress.
Also enjoyed the night-time at home.
My little sisters glorious "prom" night, a hillarous dinner at the Schubecks "teatro" with tommy gun and Lisl (thank you so much!!!) and a visit at the best pub in town "Salvenstadl" with Stefan and Leo were highlights this week.
Two more days at home until i will go back to Sölden.

Another week in Sölden
It´s going to be a little bit cheesy, but I had another 4 awesome days in Sölden.
Perfect snow conditions and sunny weather is every skiers dream.
So I focused on start training and long fast turns.
The 4 days where pretty intense and exhausting, but it was so much fun skiing and I enjoyed it so much!
Now one week off, back to University and of course to the gym with the Commander.

Lovely Sölden
This week we stayed 4 intense days at one of the best skiing areas.
Sölden is just a great spot und the conditions are perfect.
Gerry & Witti prepared the gate and even a Wu - tang was ready and in perfect shape!
In the middle of the week the weather changed only for one day and we got 30 cm of fresh snow.
Skiing was superb and I really enjoyed every second!
Back to some work out with Chris the Commander next week.
He is back from Hawaii and on fire.

Testing days
Today we met at the sports science lab in Innsbruck to test our physical strength and fitness.
It shows me if the summer training was effective or not.
Balance, core strength, leg strength, upper body strength and jumping power were tested.
Tomorrow an endurance test is on the program and after some days at home and getting our new team outfit this weekend , i´m looking forward to ski in Sölden next week.
This area will be our base until the first race in Innichen, the conditions in Sölden are going to be great and everybody is hungry to ski more days!

STUBAI part 2
Another 3 days of perfect skiing at the Stubsi. Did some technical turns, some fast turns and even a single start gate for dropping some start bombs was ready for us.
The feeling is great, the whole austrian skicross team has a positive and really nice vibe.
Enjoyed a movie premiere from Seth Morrison "The ordinary skier" and the "Nothing else matters" premiere from the Legs of Steel Crew in Innsbruck and we had a fun time.
Met the Skicross Team Australia today and had a nice chat with Scotty, Anton, Matt, Katya, Sami.
Some days off before we doing physical testing at the sports science lab "Pulverturm" at the University in Innsbruck.

First turns with the ÖSV Skicross Team at the Stubaier Glacier were really awesome!
The feeling to be back on snow and the feeling of beeing healthy, is definitely great.
My body, my right knee and my "ass" are feeling good and i have nothing to complain.
Thanks to my buddy and Commander Chris Ebenbichler for preparing me that way and supporting me with physical training.
I´m really looking forward to ski next week with my new Tecnica boots and enjoy the days where no clock is running, nobody feels to be in a rush, just ski smooth and try to advance my ski performance.

After some good days of physical training this summer, the ÖSV Skicross Team had some great meetings at the Waldhofalm in Scheffau to practice the start movement on a new summer startmachine.
Really enjoyed the days with the boys and looking forward to get some turns on real snow next week.
Thanks to Matthäus Rass for messing around in his backyard and of course Andi Ehrensberger for the nice pics.
It´s on...
